Theme: "Truth, Evidence and Memory: Academic Libraries as Cultural Rights Defenders"
The IFLA Academic and Research Libraries Section is seeking proposals for lightning talks (6-8 min each) to be presented in person at the Hot Topics Session at the IFLA World Library and Information Congress 2022 in Dublin, Ireland.
Theme: Truth, Evidence and Memory: Academic Libraries as Cultural Rights Defenders
Proposals for any of the listed topics will be considered:
- Respect Culture (e.g. Indigenous Knowledge)
- Truth-telling (e.g. Reckoning)
- Divisive Concepts (e.g. legislative incursions into academic freedom, free speech)
- Reconciliation (e.g. civic engagement, community dialogue, repatriation, reparations, voting rights, etc.)
The lightning talks will be followed by small round table discussions on the topics led by presenters. Audience participation will be essential to learn and understand the importance of libraries’ roles in this work.
Please submit a proposal before or by Monday, May 2, 2022 including an abstract (150 words), title and presenter(s) to Karen Downing at kdown@umich.edu with the subject: 2022 Hot Topics proposal
